Nia @ the College of Education w/instructor Alice Heller
Content
Whether you are a faculty and staff member, or an undergraduate or graduate student, our work demands that we sit for long stretches of time in many cases, in isolation from each other. Our work disconnects us from our bodies and each other. Nia is a movement practice, which encourages participants to discover, explore, and enhance their potential by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies. This non-impact practice is based on the idea that through movement we can find health and community. It combines practices and philosophies from martial arts, dance arts, yoga, and other healing arts.
Nia is practiced barefoot in a group and set to diverse music from around the world. It is non-impact and adaptable to all individual needs and abilities. Participants wear loose-fitting clothes. Alice Heller, an experienced instructor, will demonstrate and accommodate all intensity levels. All are welcome to participate in these FREE classes. Join us for one or all 10 classes during Fall 2026.
Staff, undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty are welcome to join us for beginning on Friday, September 25, from 4 pm to 5 pm, in Furcolo Hall. We will meet every other Friday (4 pm to 5 pm) in Room 101 and Wednesday (6:45 pm to 7:45 pm) in Room 102 throughout the semester.
