
Community Education & Social Change
The Education major with a concentration in Community Education and Social Change prepares undergraduate students to become educational leaders in community-based organizations. This concentration emphasizes critical analysis of social issues and developing solutions through a social justice lens. Graduates are equipped to apply educational principles to inspire meaningful social change.
Students in this concentration learn to lead community organizations that promote growth and development across diverse settings, such as academic institutions and human services. Coursework covers a broad spectrum of theories related to teaching and learning, social justice, and leadership.
While ideal for students interested in roles outside the traditional classroom, this concentration also provides a strong foundation for those planning to pursue a master’s degree in a related field.
Students gain practical experience and are prepared for careers such as Educational Program Coordinator, Curriculum Developer, Museum or Science Center Educator, Community Education Organizer, or Instructional Designer.
