Remembering Gerard Braunthal

On January 16, Gerard Braunthal was honored by Gera-Eisenach Cooperative State University in his hometown of Gera, Germany, with a celebration commemorating the 100th anniversary of his birth. Braunthal joined the UMass Amherst political science faculty in 1954, teaching courses in comparative government, foreign policy, and international law. Though he passed away in 2014 at the age of 90, Braunthal continues to inspire political thought.
