SBS Dean's Service Award
The Dean's Service Award is given by the Dean to a faculty or staff member in recognition of exceptional and extraordinary service, as well as commitment to supporting the goals and mission of the College.
SBS Outstanding Staff Award
The SBS Outstanding Staff Award was instituted in 2015 to recognize the contributions and impact of SBS staff members. Up to two awards will be granted each year. One award will be for exempt (formerly known as professional) and one for non-exempt (formerly known as classified) staff members. Recipients receive a $1,000 award and a plaque.
Recipients have demonstrated impact through one or more of the following:
- Growth in areas of responsibility.
- Improved a work process or system that significantly increased efficiency or resulted in a fiscal savings.
- Performed duties with superior integrity and dedication.
- Favorably represents their office, administrative unit, SBS, and university.
- Fosters collaboration.
- Creates a positive and motivating work environment.

The Nicola Mare Usher SBS Outstanding Advising Award
The Nicola Mare Usher SBS Outstanding Advising Award was instituted in 2021 to recognize outstanding contributions to the SBS advising program and student success mission. In 2023, the award was named in memory of Nicola Mare Usher, a beloved Department of Communication academic advisor. Up to two awards will be granted each year. Recipients receive a $1,000 award and a plaque.
Members of the SBS Advising Network whose work involves academic or career and professional advising, or directly enhances the quality of SBS advising and our SBS Pathways model are eligible for nomination. Nominees must have been members of the SBS Advising Network for at least two years at the time of the nomination. Those who have received this award within the past five years are not eligible.
