4+1 Accelerated Master of Arts in Political Science
Earn your BA and MA in Political Science in five years.
The 4+1 Accelerated Master's Degree in Political Science is a flexible and individualized plan of graduate study for undergraduate students. Through the program, students are able to earn their BA and MA in political science in only five years. Students who opt to apply for the program have two program tracks available–one for those who will terminate with a master's degree, and one for those interested in seeking a PhD.
The Department of Political Science at UMass Amherst is known for its cross-subdisciplinary approach to substantive inquiry about politics and a willingness to apply diverse methodological approaches to answering those questions. Our graduate students are urged to explore areas at the intersection of traditional political science fields.
