Charles River Campus of UMass Amherst

The Charles River Campus of UMass Amherst (formerly Mt. Ida) located in Newton, MA, is a hub for industry connections, connecting UMass Amherst faculty, students, and staff with Boston-area companies who partner with the university on research collaborations and recruitment. The Innovation and Collaboration Space (ICS) offers early-stage companies the opportunity to co-locate with UMass Amherst in Newton, facilitating access to Core Facilities and creating opportunities for formal or serendipitous collaboration with faculty.

“The ICS has been a critical partner,” said Dr. SSR Kumar Challa, co-founder, president, and chief scientific officer of Xheme. “In addition to lab and office space in Newton, we have access to world-class core facilities at the Institute for Applied Life Sciences in Amherst. The Cell Culture Core Facility helped to validate XMA’s unique properties and commercial viability.”
