Horticultural science is the largest segment of plant agriculture, by economic measure, in Massachusetts and New England. The AS in sustainable horticulture at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture is ideal for those interested in greenhouse management, growing plants and flowers professionally, or nursery and garden center management.

Sustainable horticulture is a unique combination of art and science through the growth of flowers, ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables. In this program, you’ll get to design your focus of study by electing courses in a range of horticulture topics, such as vegetable and herb production, sustainable agriculture, and pest management.

Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared for a variety of careers in areas such as landscape plant production, retail and garden center management, floral design, sales, or as a horticulturalist or grounds administrator. You will also benefit from education and recreation opportunities.
