Two HFA Faculty Honored for Distinguished Community Engagement

Two College of Humanities & Fine Arts faculty members received Distinguished Community Engagement Awards from the Office of Faculty Development this year.
Regina Galasso, associate professor and director of the Translation Center in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies, received the Community-Engaged Service Award. Her work includes partnering with K–12 schools across Massachusetts to provide professional development for school interpreters and translators, and serving on the state's School Interpreters Task Force.
Rebecca Lorimer Leonard, professor of English, received the Community-Engaged Research Award. Her research focuses on literacy studies and multilingual writing, including a six-year community-engaged project examining the literacy practices of multilingual families.
