Juliana Green
Major: Sociology, Social Thought and Political Economy
During my time at UMass, I have explored in depth my academic interests in solidarity economy, post capitalist politics, community development, and permaculture gardening. My senior honors thesis is a research based project that investigates non-capitalist forms of exchange, specifically time bank systems, where time is currency and all labor is valued equally. During Spring semester, my research will help inform a proposal to institute a time banking system at UMass. After graduation, I intend to stay in Western Massachusetts and apply for positions within the vast solidarity economy and sustainable agriculture ecosystem in this area. I hope to work as a community organizer and focus on projects that practice and expand upon the intersection of solidarity economy and permaculture.
