I studied abroad in Seville, Spain with API last semester. It’s hard to pick one stand out moment from my trip, but some of my favorites included: hiking in Guadalupe, chatting with new friends over a cup of coffee, seeing my first flamenco show, and witnessing the opening night of “la Feria de Abril.” I also had the opportunity to practice my Spanish speaking skills with local elementary school children as a part of a teaching class at my university. This experience was one of the highlights of my time at UMass. I made so many meaningful connections with local Spaniards and students from all over the world that have followed me home.

I am currently writing my honors thesis on lexical variation in Spanish speaking communities in Hampden County. After I graduate, I plan on traveling and pursuing a career in education. I hope to go to graduate school and become a school counselor.
