How did you find a sense of community and belonging at CHC and UMass? What experiences or resources helped you feel connected and supported?
Being involved in different clubs has allowed me to meet several different people who have similar interests as me. I have been able to find small communities in the activities I am part of. Being on a dance team, gave me a group of friends who share my passion for dance, and being part of Marketing Club has provided me with so many resources. I was able to have the opportunity of running the Marketing Career Networking Night through the Marketing Club. CHC has also helped me helped me feel more rooted in the larger campus. I feel supported in the community that CHC has provided, as it has given me the space and comfort to express myself freely.
What advice would you give to incoming students?
My advice to new students is to not be afraid to try new things and explore the opportunities that come your way. Stepping out of your comfort zone might lead you to discover activities you never thought you'd enjoy! But remember, it's also okay to take your time and approach things at your own pace. Prioritize yourself, and don’t hesitate to figure out what you like and don’t like through experience.
