Sophomore, Class of 2026
Hometown: Chelmsford, MA
Major(s): Marketing and Communications
Hi! My name is Siya and I am currently a sophomore Marketing and Communications major from Chelmsford, MA. At UMass, aside from being a Student Ambassador, I am Secretary of UMass Jazba, a co-ed fusion dance team. I am also co-chair of the PR team for marketing club, where I help run social media. I loved being part of the Isenberg RAP in the Honors College because it allowed me to meet students with the same interests. By talking to like-minded students, I learned about really cool opportunities such as UMass Jazba. Outside of academics, I run a photography business and I love taking grad photos for seniors!
Do you have any tips for success for first-years?
"College is indeed a significant change and adapting can be challenging. It is crucial to remain open to new experiences in such an environment. While the initial transition may feel overwhelming, it's essential to prioritize yourself. Not giving yourself time to be present and take a break can lead to burnout. Burnout can be counterproductive and really hard to overcome, which is why it is important to be especially mindful of balance. Always try to remember that college is a place for growth, so change is a good thing! Many students change their minds multiple times before finding their true passion. Embrace the ups and downs, take time for yourself, and be open to those new experiences."
