Job Description: Become familiar with the mission, organization, and functioning of the Faculty Senate and its Councils and Committees (Faculty Senate | (umass.edu). Maintain the Faculty Senate website, which is linked within the UMass Amherst website, to communicate the ongoing work of the Faculty Senate and its Councils and Committees to the campus community. Attend meetings of the Faculty Senate; prepare draft minutes from thevideo recordings. Attend meetings of selected Councils or Committees and take notes as assigned. Route proposals submitted to the Faculty Senate through the Course and Curriculum Management System (CCMS) to Faculty Senate bodies according to standing rules or specific decisions by the Faculty Senate Rules Committee. Assist in UNIVRSTY 298A, Faculty Senate practicum. Undertake research on past Faculty Senate actions, general issues in higher education, or faculty participation in campus governance as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
School of Public Policy - Project Assistant
Position title: Project Assistant
Job Description:
We seek a doctoral or advanced master’s student with expertise in statistical analysis and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support a team of up to six master’s students collaborating with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts for the School of Public Policy Workshop. This project involves conducting a service area assessment to analyze food assistance and equity data by census tract, municipality, and county to provide actionable recommendations for the Food Bank’s service improvement and food equity efforts. The assistant will guide the team in applying statistical models, conducting overlay data mapping, and developing both qualitative and quantitative insights based on survey data of volunteers, staff, and community members. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to facilitate a productive learning environment and achieve high-quality deliverables that enhance strategic planning and food assistance outcomes.
Weekly hours and period of hire: Sunday, 1/26/25 to Saturday, 5/10/25 (15 weeks). Nine hours per week.
Pay rate: $36.67 per hour.
