Peer Advisor Sophia Robbins

Year: Senior

Major: Community Education and Social Change

Minor: Psychology

Hometown: Longmeadow, Massachusetts

My favorite summer activity: Spending time outdoors, specifically hiking and walking with friends!

Most essential item to bring to your dorm in the fall:  A quality mattress topper! Dorm mattresses aren’t exactly known for their comfort, so having one can make the transition smoother by helping you feel more comfortable in your new space.

Favorite EDUC course so far: EDUC 375, Educational Research Design

Favorite thing about UMass:  The sense of community. From the friendly people to the fantastic food and camaraderie at basketball and hockey games—it’s hard to pick just one thing!

Best piece of advice for incoming first years: My best piece of advice for incoming first-year students is to get involved in extracurricular activities. UMass offers something for everyone, so explore what is available and take the leap!

Most essential item to bring to your dorm in the Fall: a fan

Favorite EDUC course so far: EDUC 370, Writing for Education/Human Development Majors

Favorite thing about UMass: The campus community and how beautiful the campus is!

Best piece of advice for incoming first years: Talk to at least two people in each of your classes and exchange social media to help make friends and to put yourself out there.
