Inclusive Conference 2022
Call for Proposals
The Center for Youth Engagement at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, in collaboration with the University of Wuppertal, invites special educators and educational researchers to submit proposals to the 9th Annual International Conference and Symposium on Inclusive Education. The conference will take place July 14-16, 2022 at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
This event will bring together researchers from across the globe to examine issues associated with inclusion, inclusion research, inclusion policy, and contemporary topics associated with social, academic, and behavioral issues of students with disabilities and students marginalized because of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other factors. The purpose of the conference is to share research on inclusion and to develop new international research collaborative efforts to advance outcomes for students with disabilities, diverse learners, and other marginalized populations. A primary goal of the conference and symposium is to identify one or more collaborative research agendas and to support the planning and implementation over the next year. Over the past decade, this conference and symposium has led to numerous publications, collaborative research endeavors, and funded grants.
The event is a mixture of a conference, a symposium, and a working special interest group. We invite presenters for two types of presentation formats.
Breakout Session Presentations
Breakout sessions will take place on Friday, July 12. They will consist of two-hour long sessions comprised of groups of presenters each with 7-10 minutes to present. Presenters should provide a brief overview of their research, with a focus on method and findings. An hour will be dedicated to a facilitated discussion of the sessions. All participants are expected to participate in these active discussions.
Poster Session
The poster session will also occur on Friday, July 12. It will be held in the main meeting room. Posters should describe a research study, a theoretical framework, or a literature review in detail.
Proposal Procedure
Proposals should be submitted via this Qualtrics Survey.
Proposals should include a title and an abstract of 150 words. Proposals will be reviewed as they arrive. Doctoral students are strongly encouraged to submit proposals to the conference and to participate in all proceedings.

Conference Venue
The International Conference and Symposium on Inclusive Education will be held at the College of Education on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus. Parking is available. Conference fees, snacks and coffee, and lunch on July 14, 15, and 16 will be supported by the Center for Youth Engagement. Dinner on Friday night will be held in Northampton.
