Graduate Student Senate Nominations Now Open

March 15, 2021 Student life

Content

Nominate senators and officers to the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) for the academic year 2021-2022.

Senate Elections
Each department is allocated a base of two senators. For every 50 graduate students beyond this, the department gains an additional senator. Education has 10 senate seats to fill. Make nominations by Monday, March 15 here.

Candidates can nominate themselves or other graduate students in their respective departments provided the nominee is informed beforehand.

Departments can also conduct internal elections based on the guidelines laid out in Article II of the GSS Bylaws. All internally elected departmental senators should have their names forwarded to the election committee at gssinfo [at] umass [dot] edu (gssinfo[at]umass[dot]edu) by Friday, April 2nd, 2021.

Officer Elections
Please email, by Monday, March 15, your nominations for the position of GSS President, GSS Vice-President, and GSS Treasurer for the 2021-2022 academic year. All senate tax-paying graduate students of UMass Amherst are eligible to nominate themselves or another eligible student. The officer positions are GEO eligible for 20 hours during the school year and 10 hours during the summer.

Please email your nomination to the Elections Committee at gssinfo [at] umass [dot] edu (gssinfo[at]umass[dot]edu).
