On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the College of Education at UMass Amherst welcomed four bright students and two dedicated teachers from Hadley Public Schools for the Future Educator Club Visit. This immersive experience gave students a first-hand look at the academic and professional opportunities available to aspiring educators.
The visit began with a warm welcome from the Dean, followed by engaging meetings with Career Services and Financial Aid Services. The students had the opportunity to ask questions, gain insights into career pathways, and explore how financial aid can support their future academic journeys.
💬 “I enjoyed talking to Career Services. It was nice to learn more about interviews for real adult jobs.”

Following these sessions, the group took a scenic walk to Worcester Dining Commons, where they got a taste of student life at UMass Amherst. After lunch, they returned to Furcolo Hall to sit in on a Social Diversity in Education class, where they observed engaging discussions on inclusivity and the role of diversity in shaping modern classrooms.
💬 “Sitting in on a class was nice. I liked being able to see what college classes are actually like.”
One of the highlights of the visit was the financial aid discussion, where students had a chance to connect with Kael Miyata from Financial Aid Services. The session provided valuable insights into managing college expenses and financial resources available to students.
💬 “I liked talking to Kael about how [college] finances worked. It was cool that he said we can reach out to him and get additional help about specific situations we have.”
The Future Educator Club Visit was an inspiring and eye-opening experience, allowing students to see themselves in the role of future educators. A big thank you to the Hadley Public Schools students and teachers for their enthusiasm, as well as to the faculty and staff who made this visit memorable.
We look forward to welcoming more future educators to campus soon!
