Olga Correa, a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership program, received an educators grant from the Abolitionist Teaching Network. Correa will use the grant to advance her work with "Life After High School", a community engagement and support program for Black and Latinx students in Englewood, NJ.
"The group formed in September 2020 to check-in about remote learning and the college application process. It quickly transformed into a space of learning how systems of oppression create barriers to higher learning for many Black and Latinx communities," said Olga. "The grant funds will be used to support more students in doing abolitionist work by establishing a continuum of student-led learning and unlearning, and connecting students with opportunities to advocate for changes to existing policies and practices within their school, the greater district, and beyond."
