About

Born in the Philippines and raised in Southern California, Joy is the Department Administrator for Educational Policy, Research & Administration (EPRA). Committed to creating and sustaining brave and supportive spaces that promote equity, inclusion, belonging, and access, she is also on the steering committee for the International Faculty and Staff Network.

Prior to joining the College of Education, Joy was the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Life and has over fifteen years of experience in administrative support, artist relations, music journalism, and contract recruiting. She earned a BFA in Film and Television Production and has worked in a variety of areas including higher education, commercial beverage, aerospace, local/independent music, and arts management. 

Outside the university, Joy is a Zoom host for the Sojourner Truth School for Social Change Leadership, serves on her local cultural council to advocate for communities of color and artists with disabilities, and performs with Shindaiko, a contemporary Japanese drumming ensemble.
