About

Gretchen B. Rossman serves as Professor of International Education. With an international reputation as a qualitative methodologist, she has expertise in education reform and capacity building at international, national, and local levels, qualitative research design and methods, mixed methods monitoring and evaluation, and inquiry in education. Over the past 25 years, she has co-authored nine books, two of which are editions of major qualitative research texts (Learning in the Field, 3rd ed., with Sharon F. Rallis, and Designing Qualitative Research, 5th ed., with Catherine Marshall). She has also authored or co-authored over 40 articles, book chapters, and technical reports focused on education reform internationally and domestically, as well as methodological issues in qualitative research synthesis, mixed methods evaluation, and ethical research practice. She has worked on capacity building and education reform projects in Azerbaijan, Hong Kong, India, Malawi, Palestine, Senegal, Tanzania, The Gambia, and the United States. Her PhD in Education, with a specialization in higher education, is from the University of Pennsylvania.
