About
Brendan Sheran is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has worked for more than two decades as a public school educator and leader in Western Massachusetts, serving as a social studies teacher, department chair, teachers’ union president, and assistant principal. His current research interests focus on civic education, undergraduate education leadership development, and cross-district organizational collaboration.
Brendan currently serves as a Project Facilitator for Berkshire Educational Resources K-12 (BERK12). In this role, he leads cross-district collaborative projects and research projects involving education stakeholders. He serves as a research assistant with the UMass Center for Education Policy, focused on the development of the Annual Massachusetts Educator Survey. Engaged in local governance and policy formation, he also serves on his city’s school building committee and has been involved in district reorganization efforts across The Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. A National Board Certified Teacher, Brendan holds a B.A. in History from UMass Amherst as well as an M.Ed. and CAGS in Educational Leadership from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
