Kelsey Whipple, journalism, has been named a UMass ADVANCE Team Leader for Research, along with Caryn Brause, architecture. Whipple and Brause join three new Team Leaders for Practice – Caitlyn Butler, civil and environmental engineering; Paige Warren, environmental conservation; and Ximena Zúñiga, education.
UMass ADVANCE announced the addition of these five new leadership team members as the program nears the successful completion of its five-year, NSF-funded ADVANCE Institutional Transformation grant and transitions to a permanent, sustainable UMass ADVANCE going forward. The team will continue to provide the knowledge-driven research and solutions for faculty equity for which the UMass Amherst campus has become known.
To lead ADVANCE into the future, these new team members will join Laurel Smith-Doerr, sociology, who is continuing as the director of the program.
