The UMass Amherst Master of Science in Resource Economics program tackles important societal problems by gathering and analyzing data to offer policy solutions that address today's most pressing issues. Our program provides cutting-edge training in empirical microeconomics and applied econometrics, producing industry leaders in environmental and natural resource economics, empirical industrial organization, experimental and behavioral economics, and health economics.
Beyond taking foundational courses, our students can tailor their degree with a range of electives. As a student, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through working with faculty on research projects.
The MS in Resource Economics program prepares you for career paths in marketing, resource-based industries like utilities and petroleum, environmental policy, and consulting, just to name a few. Classified as a STEM degree, our program allows international students up to three years of work eligibility post-graduation. Our graduates have gone on to roles with organizations like Boston Health Economics, Forrester Security & Risk Team, Tetra Tech, Ernst and Young, ISO New England, and others.
