Applications for the PhD, MSc, and 4 +1 MSc option are handled through the Graduate School and are due January 1st.  Applications consist of an application form, personal statement, transcripts, three reference letters, and a Resume. We offer assistantship funding to admitted PhD students as part of the regular admission process; no further materials are needed to be considered for funding. Applicants do not need to contact faculty before applying. Admissions and funding are administed at the department level rather than under particular research advisors. Students will be matched with a research advisor after finishing initial coursework in the program.

Our program does not require the GRE for admissions. International applicants will need proof of English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, etc.), although some applicants may have this requirement waived; please see here for waiver conditions and more detailed information for international applicants.

Applying for the 4+1 program is a two-step process spanning junior and senior years.  During their junior year, students are to submit application materials to their academic advisor and the Graduate Program Director for preliminary approval.  If approved, students will begin taking MSc courses in the fall of their senior year.  Students must then submit the standard application through the Graduate School by January 1st of their senior year in order to officially apply to the MS program.  For more detailed information about eligibility, timelines, and application materials please refer to this Resource Economics 4+1 Application Procedures document.
