Lucy Xiaolu Wang
Assistant Professor of Resource Economics
As a child growing up in the smallest city in China, Lucy Xiaolu Wang recalls having to take medications of inappropriate dosing due to a lack of supply in the area. This experience sparked her interest in healthcare research, specifically finding ways to improve drug access and delivery for under-resourced populations. Now an internationally known researcher in her field, Wang recently received the International Health Economics Association's Adam Wagstaff Prize for Outstanding Research for her work on healthcare financing and delivery in low- to middle-income countries.
In addition to her position at UMass Amherst, Wang is a faculty research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. She holds a PhD in Economics from Cornell University.
