Meet Sofia, a rising senior studying Animal Science. When not in class, she is involved with the Pre-Veterinary & Animal Sciences Club and the UMass Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society; interns at Diggity Dogs Service Dogs in Greenfield; and is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority.

This summer, Sofia has been working at UMass’s Hadley Farm and Landau Veterinary Services in Belchertown, and is involved with breast cancer research in Dr. Kathleen Arcaro's lab.

Sofia chose the College of Natural Sciences because of all the great resources it provides, and the hands-on experience she gets with her major. “I feel welcomed by all professors, and the research that is done at CNS is nothing short of amazing. I feel truly blessed to go to this school,” says Sofia.

After she graduates from CNS this coming May, Sofia hopes to go to veterinary school or get her master's degree in Animal Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences here at UMass.
