Rob DeConto Speaks with 'Boston Globe' About Sea Level Rise in Boston
Content
Rob DeConto, provost professor of Earth, Geographic and Climate Sciences (EGCS), recently commented in a Boston Globe article reporting that while sea level rise in Boston broke records in 2023, the city’s climate resilience plan is lagging.
"Boston is likely to have a waterline 5 to 11 inches higher by the end of the decade than in 2000, regardless of what's done to cut greenhouse gas emissions, and is likely locked into about 1 foot of sea level rise by the middle of the century, according to DeConto. And, there's a chance it could be more."
