Zoom at UMass Amherst is already configured to improve security and reduce the risk of disruptions, such as "Zoom bombing" attacks. We have a few recommended settings to further increase security. These additional options may make Zoom harder to use in some cases, and as a result, they are not enabled by default.

Improve the User Experience & Accessibility of Your Virtual Meetings
As of September 2025, Zoom Webinar licenses no longer need to be requested.
Faculty and staff now have the ability to host webinars or large meetings with up to 1,000 participants directly through their UMass Amherst Zoom accounts.
Students should coordinate with their faculty or staff advisor for any webinar hosting needs.
