Email and Internet

Email

Email at UMass Amherst is powered by both GMail and Microsoft Outlook.

  • Google Mail (Gmail), part of Apps at UMass Amherst, is the email platform used by all undergraduate students and most graduate students, as well as various faculty and staff.
  • Microsoft Outlook, part of Microsoft’s Office 365 suite of cloud-based tools, is the platform used by many faculty and staff members across campus, including some graduate students.

Both platforms come with a wide array of tools and features, available for free, including calendaring, integration with other apps, and more. Note: Some departments use only one of the two email services. If you wish to switch from service to the other, please contact your department's IT professional.
