Junior, Class of 2025
Hometown: Allentown, NJ
Major(s): Natural Resources Conservation
Hi! My name is Addie and I am a current Junior here at UMass. I am majoring in Natural Resources Conservation with a minor in Political Science. I am an out-of-state student from Allentown, New Jersey. Aside from being a Student Ambassador, I am an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and a member of the International Scholars Program. My favorite part about the Honors College is the emphasis on community and support, which is really important on a large campus. Being an Honors student has allowed me to strengthen my education through study abroad and research, including my most recent research on Coffee Sustainability and Bio-waste. Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially surfing and hiking. In Amherst, I love taking yoga classes and exploring new coffee spots in town!
Can you study abroad as an Honors College student?
"Yes! I spent the spring semester of my sophomore year on Domestic Exchange at The University of Hawaii Manoa. I am currently a junior at UMass and plan to study abroad in Barcelona this spring. Studying abroad, or domestically in Hawaii, has played a key role in broadening my perspectives and enriching my education. The Honors College has a great advising team that provides support and guidance for the Honors Curriculum. Did you know that a course taken abroad can transfer back as Honors? Even with two semesters spent outside of UMass, I am still on track for graduating with Honors. Honors students have additional access to scholarships, funding, and programs such as the International Scholars Program (ISP), which make studying abroad more accessible. Overall, studying abroad is not only possible as an Honors College student, it is encouraged!"
