Dr. Kate Hudson Headshot

Dr. Kate Hudson was awarded a Faculty Peer Mentoring Award at the 2025 ADVANCE Annual Distinguished Lecture and Awards Reception on Monday, March 10. The award recognizes Hudson’s outstanding peer mentorship that fosters a culture of equity, inclusion, and excellence among faculty, both within and beyond the University community.

During the lecture, presenters shared, "Nominators praised Dr. Hudson’s mentoring of adjunct faculty and lecturers at all career stages. She launched the Faculty Development Unit that supports faculty on-boarding in the College and works with the MSP to develop workshops on promotion process for lecturers all across campus. Many faculty members credit her mentorship as pivotal to their professional development. One faculty member noted, 'Kate weaves humility, empathy, and a commitment to empowering others into the fabric of the college. She makes us all stronger so that we can serve our students more effectively.'"

UMass ADVANCE hosted the event in collaboration with the Office of Equity and Inclusion and the Office of the Provost. Dr. Suzanne Rivera, president of Macalester College and Professor of Public Affairs, delivered a distinguished lecture titled, “Higher Education is a Hope Machine.” The evening also announced and celebrated the 2025 Equitable Practices in Collaboration (EPiC) Awardees along with the Faculty Peer Mentor Awardees, including Dr. Hudson.
