1. Prerequisites for entry to the UMASS Amherst Program:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

2. UMASS Amherst Endorsement Requirements:

  • Completion of the Program of Study
  • Completion of the 75 hours of supervised Field Based Experience

At this stage, the EdPrep office at UMASS Amherst will enter the program completion endorsement in ELAR system

3. MA DESE Endorsement Requirements:

  • Teachers need to satisfy the partner language test requirement by achieving one of the following: a passing score on the corresponding MTEL, a passing score on the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) offered through the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages, an equivalent language assessment.
  • Teachers need to satisfy the 75 hours field- base experience in a Pre-K to 12 dual language education or transitional bilingual education program, two-way immersion program, or other bilingual education setting.

Certificate requirements:

  • Teachers do not need to satisfy the partner language test requirement.
