Jane Fountain, Distinguished Professor and director of the School of Public Policy, has published “The Algorithmic State? Challenges to Democracy in an Era of Digitalization” in Studies: An Irish Quarterly. Based on her address to the Royal Irish Academy as part of the Ireland 2030 series, Fountain balances the enormous potential of artificial intelligence with an array of serious challenges to its present uses.
