Two students from the Department of Journalism, Saliha Bayrak '23 and Jack Underhill '24, were recently accepted into the 2023 POLITICO Journalism Institute (PJI). The 10-day program for undergraduate and graduate students is highly competitive, providing hands-on training at the largest politics- and policy-focused newsroom in the nation and behind-the-scenes experiences at locations such as the White House, Congress, and the National Press Club. Students participating in the program will join interactive workshops, sessions with industry leaders, and mentor pairings in order to build their existing skills and professional networks.

"We're very excited to welcome this latest cohort to the PJI program," said Joe Shatz, executive editor, platforms and operations, at POLITICO. "We've been doing this program for a decade and every year it gets better and better. This is shaping up to be our strongest class yet."

Saliha Bayrak will be based out of POLITICO's California office, while Jack Underhill will be based out of the New York office.
