Five College International Relations Certificate

The Five College International Relations Certificate Program offers an opportunity for students with interests in international affairs, global policy, international law, global history, global economics, and area studies to learn from award-winning faculty from across the Five College Consortium. The Political Science Department coordinates the program on the UMass campus. 

The certificate can be combined with any undergraduate major and indicates to graduate schools and future employers that you have a strong interest in world affairs. Students pursuing the certificate complete seven courses in the following areas: world politics, global issues or problems, international economies, history of the international systems, US foreign policy, and the politics, history, economy, or culture of one or more foreign regions. They must also demonstrate intermediate level competence in a contemporary language other than English. This is typically shown through completion of four college-level language courses, but can also be demonstrated in other ways that the Certificate Advisor will explain.

To receive credit for the certificate, students must earn a grade of C or higher in all courses.
