Bachelor of Science in Environmental & Natural Resource Economics
Learn to assist in public and private decisions about environmental and natural resource issues.
Population and income growth are increasing pressure on our natural resources, making allocation, management, and protection critical. The BS in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics (ENRE) at UMass Amherst provides students with applied economics skills for a number of sectors and industries while addressing environmental and resource challenges.
As a STEM degree, ENRE offers comprehensive training in data analysis, quantitative methods, economic theory, and more. Our students explore topics such as water quality, environmental policy, climate change, and clean energy, while honing communication and collaborative skills. Electives allow students to tailor their education to their interests and career goals, broadening their knowledge in areas like managerial economics, health economics, social justice, and policy. Hands-on learning experiences include study abroad, internship, and research opportunities.
Graduates of our program pursue careers in an array of fields, including consulting, conservation, finance, and public service, just to name a few, and have worked for employers like NOAA, Deloitte, ISO New England, and the EPA.
