Anjuliet Woodruffe

I'm an Assistant Professor of Critical Performance Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My research centers Black feminist performance, Black transnational identity and migration using autoethnography, poetry, and storytelling methodologies to explore themes of affective citizenship, belonging and home. 

I have published in top-tier journals including Text and Performance Quarterly, Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies, Departures in Critical Qualitative Research, Cultural Studies ↔ Critical Methodologies, International Review of Qualitative Research, and the Journal of Autoethnography.  

In 2026, I co-created and performed L.I.V.E and In Color: Autoethnography, Archive and the Poetics of Black Life, a collaborative poetic autoethnography, at the Marion Kleinau Theatre.  

I currently serve on the Editorial Board of Text and Performance Quarterly. I am also the secretary for the Caribbean Communication Caucus of the National Communication Association. I continue to shape the field through peer review, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
