Bachelor of Science in Science

Interdepartmental program for students with a general interest in science.

Apply Request Information

The interdepartmental science major at UMass Amherst provides you with a solid, general background in the sciences. If you are curious about the sciences but do not plan to continue to graduate school, the science major could be a great choice for you.

A BS in science will prepare you for administrative work in law or in scientific industries. It’s also an excellent choice if you plan to teach general science at the middle school level and the BS pairs well with education programs.

The BS in science is a good choice as a second major as well. Students majoring in programs outside the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) who want a solid science background might also consider a BS in science.

Through the program, you’ll gain a foundation in the sciences that will serve you well as you move on to your next steps beyond UMass Amherst.
