About
Dr. Maryann Tebben is Assistant Director of the Career and Professional Development Center in the College of Natural Sciences. She has over 25 years of experience working with students as an advisor and educator. Before coming to UMass Amherst, she was Professor of French and head of the Center for Food and Resilience at Bard College-Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, where she taught courses on French language and literature and Food Studies. She also managed the student-run campus farm and the food pantry, where she learned a lot by working side-by-side with students outside the classroom. Dr. Tebben earned her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. She is very interested in food and farming and spends her free time thinking about food, reading about food, and sometimes cooking. She is ready to connect students to career and internship opportunities in Natural Sciences and beyond.
