The Margarita Hopkins Rand Distinguished Lectures and the Lois E. Toko Lecture Series endowments were established to bring guest lectures and speakers to campus who will inspire, engage, and inform students in the college. 

Guest speaker funding directed toward honoraria, travel, accommodations costs. Funds from the Lois E. Toko Lecture Series endowment support lecture series that bring women speakers to campus. The Margarita Hopkins Rand Distinguished Lectures endowment may be used to offset the costs of annual lectures, particularly but not limited to lectures of interest to English and theater students.

Award may not to exceed $4,000, limit one per department per academic year. 

Full-time HFA faculty may apply.

Award Management

The department business manager, in collaboration with the award recipient, submits a Summit report to the HFA Business Office for reimbursement of expenses charged to the faculty member's retention account.

Applicants will be notified of a decision within two weeks after the application deadline.

How to Apply

To apply, please complete the HFA Multipurpose Submission Form. Applicants will be asked to upload the following documentation:

  • Link to guest speaker’s biography or CV or a PDF
  • Presentation title or topic
  • Event budget
  • List of expenses e.g., honoraria, catering, travel, accommodations, publicity, etc. Include all confirmed and pending revenue sources and amounts.

Deadlines

  • October 6, 2023, for guest lectures occurring 9/1/23-5/10/24
  • March 1, 2024, for guest lectures occurring 3/15/24-5/10/24
