Translation Center Welcomes Proposals for Art Exhibition
Content
The Translation Center invites the campus community to submit proposals for artwork that explores the multifaceted nature of translation for its next exhibition the week of March 25 in the Translation Center Lab in Herter Hall, Annex 17.
Individuals and groups are welcome to submit proposals for art that interprets the theme of translation in their own way through, but not limited to, drawing, painting, photography, digital art and mixed media. Proposals can include already existing artwork or something created especially for this initiative.
The 2023 inaugural exhibition, “Moving Sketches, Moving Translations (2022),” was created by comparative literature doctoral student Sarah Aldawood and is currently on display until March.
Deadline for proposals, submitted online through the Call for Artwork: Translation Center form, is Monday, Feb. 12, and early submissions are encouraged. A panel of faculty, students and staff will conduct a blind review of proposals and announce their selection the week of Feb. 19.
The Translation Center covers project and installation expenses up to a certain amount. The selected artist(s) will coordinate with Translation Center members to arrange installation by the March 25 opening date.
More information about the exhibit and the multilingual services provided by the Translation Center can be found on the Translation Center website.
