Monika Schmitter

In 2022, the College of Humanities & Fine Arts launched its FacultyWorks series, which seeks to explore and amplify original work by its illustrious faculty.

Monika Schmitter, professor and chair of the History of Art and Architecture department, was the first faculty member to be featured in the series.

For her talk, she was joined by Patricia Fortini Brown (Princeton University), David Young Kim (University of Pennsylvania), and Marjorie Rubright (UMass Kinney Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies) to discuss her latest book The Art Collector in Early Modern Italy: Andrea Odoni and his Venetian Palace (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2021).

Dean Barbara Krauthamer offered opening remarks.
