Classics Professor Debbie Felton Presents Opening Address at Devil 2024 International Conference

Debbie Felton, professor of Classics, presented the opening plenary address for the “Devil 2024” international, interdisciplinary conference held at the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, May 15–18.
Her talk, “Ancient Attitudes toward Daimones,” covered demonological texts and related material objects from ancient Mesopotamia, Anatolia, the Levant, Egypt, and Greece to illuminate a variety of beliefs about demonic entities in West Asian and Mediterranean antiquity and how they served as forerunners for Christian conceptions of demons.
