Jazz in July 2025
Summer Music Programs
Content

A two-week immersive program, Jazz in July offers an intensive study of improvisation, jazz theory, and culture. Through masterclasses, lectures, jam sessions, and public performances, students from across the country connect to hone their skills and to engage in the social and political thinking of jazz artists past and present. It’s a transformative opportunity for young musicians to grow both musically and intellectually.
From July 14 through July 25, participants have the chance to perform for the community, giving them skills needed to enter the world of jazz, and giving you the opportunity to witness tomorrow's top jazz talent.
Jazz in July features three public performance programs:
Club Jazz in July (Wednesdays, 7pm, Campus Center) features vocalists and instrumental combos in a relaxed club atmosphere.
Jazz Futures (Fridays, Bezanson Recital Hall, between 9-3pm), the concert featuring student combos.
Jazz in July All-Stars Concert (July 25, Amherst Town Common, 5pm), a round-robin style concert showcasing collaborations between nationally and internationally recognized Jazz in July faculty.
