Minor in History of Art and Architecture
Enrich any major by studying visual culture and the built environment.
UMass courses in the history of art and architecture have a broad emphasis on culture and history and they focus on writing, analysis, and research, which makes the minor an excellent supplement to any major. You’ll take at least 15 credits, and can choose from four different tracks. The first requires art history survey classes, covering the ancient to medieval period and the Renaissance to the modern period; the second requires Introduction to the Visual Arts; the third requires Introduction to the Visual Arts and History of Architecture and the Built Environment; and the last requires History of Architecture and the Built Environment. All four options allow you to choose electives that interest you.
