Study the science at the core of all the forces in our world. Physics treats matter, energy, and interactions at the fundamental level to understand the applied and theoretical influences at work in our world. At the undergraduate level, the Department of Physics offers three options for students, depending on their goals: the professional track, applied track, and general. Applied and professional have coursework more directly related to experimentation and future careers in physics, while the general track is intended for students more interested in teaching, scientific writing, or careers in business. At the graduate level, candidates conduct original, cutting-edge research in experimental and theoretical condensed matter physics, nanoscience, and more.
