PhD in Physics
The physics department offers both a non-thesis master’s degree and a doctoral degree that can prepare you for your personal educational and career goals. The MS program allows you the flexibility to tailor your degree to serve either as a springboard to a PhD program or as critical training for jobs in industry, with specializations in areas such as geosciences, engineering, polymer science, and data science. The PhD program is designed to train you for careers in academia or the private sector through coursework in foundational material (classical and quantum mechanics, statistical physics and electrodynamics) and a primary focus on original research supervised by faculty members.
