Research Interests:
Our group discovers and synthesizes inorganic materials to drive next-generation computing and energy systems. We navigate complex thermodynamic and kinetic landscapes during synthesis through unexplored tuning parameters and diverse techniques spanning solid, liquid, and vapor phase reactions, and we work with theoretical tools to predict new materials and their properties more accurately. Once materials are synthesized, we characterize their electronic, magnetic, and structural properties. Group members will learn materials synthesis techniques, especially for single-crystal growth; will evaluate and tune materials’ physical and magnetic properties; and will explore crystallography and magnetism using national lab beamlines.
