Condensed Biography:

Postdoctoral Fellow, Yale University (1985–1988)
Ph.D., California Institute of Technology (1984)
B.A., University of California, San Diego

Affiliations:

Faculty, Graduate Program in Molecular & Cellular Biology
Faculty, Center for Bioactive Delivery, Institute for Applied Life Sciences
Faculty, Models to Medicine, Institute for Applied Life Sciences
Nucleic Acids Theme Leader, Institute for Applied Life Sciences
Member, Graduate Program in Molecular & Cellular Biology

Research Interests:

Studies of mechanism and structure in transcription, using mechanistic enzymology and biophysical tools. With this understanding, and in collaboration with chemical engineering colleagues, we are developing novel flow chemistry approaches towards RNA synthesis/manufacturing. Applications include vaccine/therapeutic manufacturing, but also a new approach to generating RNA with site-specific modifications for fundamental studies of RNA biology.
