The UMass Drumline

The UMass Drumline is the percussion section in the Minuteman Marching Band, widely regarded as one of the very best marching percussion ensembles in the United States. The Drumline and its staff, led by Ian Hale, are respected authorities on percussion arrangement, education, and performance.

Audition Information

All first year members interested in the drumline or pit need to submit an audition video. Please visit the drumline website at umassdrumline.org for instructions. Click on 'Audition', download the PDF's, and follow the instructions for the audition procedure. Please email Ian Hale (@email) if you have any questions.

Tech Classes

Interested in getting a head start with joining the drumline? Feel free to join the drumline at its Spring Tech Class. Classes are offered during the UMass Spring Semester (Late Jan - Early May) and are free and open to any interested high school and college students!
