Building the Home Court & Ice Advantage!

The UMass Hoop/Ice Band is the ensemble that plays at the Mullins Center and beyond in support of the men’s and women’s basketball teams and the men’s hockey team, with the goal of making "The Bill" the toughest place to play in both the Atlantic 10 and Hockey East. Instrumentation for the Hoop/Ice Band is standard with a full rhythm section. The band plays a custom written repertoire with many songs even being student arranged!
The Hoop/Ice Band rehearses on Mondays from 4:40-6:10 p.m. beginning in October with the start of the hockey season and runs through March (including the winter break), with the potential for additional postseason games.

While the Hoop/Ice Band plays at multiple different sports, it is one single ensemble, with individual members signing up for each game.

Ice Band

The Ice Band was founded in 2017 and supports UMass Hockey both at home, at the TD Garden (Mullins East) whenever the team makes the Hockey East Semifinals (most recently in 2022), and travels for the NCAA hockey tournament. The band wears white and maroon rugbies.

The Hoop Band is a staple at the Mullins Center and annually travels to the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Brooklyn/DC.

Hoop Band (Women's)

The Hoop Band has supported the women's basketball team through their rise as a conference power in the Atlantic 10, being there for their first ever Atlantic 10 Championship and March Madness run in 2022 and their WNIT run in 2023.
